Australian Shepherd

As is typical for herding dogs, Aussies are athletic, high energy dogs with thick coats who love anything to do with agility. Australian Shepherds mare amazingly versatile dogs, performing services as seeing-eye dogs, search-and-rescue dogs, and sniffing out narcotics. It is probably their inborn need to have something important to do which makes them so successful. Aussies are anything but couch potatoes, so make sure you keep them occupied. They are medium to large, ranging in weight from 40-65 lbs. Aussies can have several colorings, including black with or without white and red markings (like Max and Adkens), blue merle with white markings, red with or without white markings, and red merle (like Sam and Scarlette).
