Basset Hound
What Basset Hounds are supposed to to is track the scent of rabbits in the woods. Their noses are close to the ground, their long, droopy ears stir up the scent, and the folds in their chins hold the scent (the same way cigarette smoke stays in your hair). Bassets are easy to recognize thanks to their pendant ears, short legs and doleful, sometimes bloodshot eyes. They are usually calm around the house, but do enjoy long long walk. Probably the most famous Basset is Jason, the symbol for Hush Puppie shoes. Like most hounds, Basset Hounds usually have large white, brown and black spots. While they are typically medium sized dogs, you may run across one who weighs 70 lbs.
