Cocker Spaniel

Until recently the #1 dog in the US, Cocker Spaniels are wonderful family pets. They are cheerful, good-natured, easy to train and adaptable. One of the most well-known Cocker Spaniels is the cartoon character "Lady" from "Lady and the Tramp". If you are thinking of getting one, be prepared to trim or brush that curly coat and inspect their ears often so they do not develop infections. Cockers are active, outdoor dogs, and many accompany hunters of game birds. They require a moderate amount of exercise. Cocker Spaniels are small, usually weighing 15-30 pounds and can be recognized by their curly hair and pendant ears. Colors can be any solid color (like Cooper, Dawson and Butterfinger), black-and-tan, and parti (including roan) (like Dawson).
