English Springer Spaniel

Like many hunting dogs, the English Springer Spaniel can be bred either for "shows" or for the field. They are athletic and enjoy being outdoors. If you don't take them hunting with you, they will happily fetch balls and frisbees as a substitute, as well as accompany you on 10-mile hikes in the woods. Like all Spaniels, they take to the water like ducks. Smaller than many gun dogs, English Springer Spaniels typically weigh around 50 lbs. They can be black or liver with white markings, or white with black or liver markings. They may also have tan accents on eyebrows and cheeks and "ticks" or freckles on the white fur.
