Miniature Pinscher
If you are looking for a dog that is small but not fragile and does not require hours of grooming, the Miniature Pinscher may be the dog for you. If you are looking for a lapdog, keep looking. It's probably just as well that Min Pins are as small as they are, otherwise they might be fearsome dogs. They are smart, courageous, and stubborn. They also like to bark. If their ears have been cropped, they look like scaled-down Dobermans, but in reality are most likely the result of crossing Dachshunds and Italian Greyhounds. Zoe is an example of a Min Pin with natural ears. This German breed had the job of keeping kitchens free of mice and rats and they will gladly do the same for you. Min Pins are sometimes called the "King of the Toys." Make sure you keep the upper hand, otherwise this little dog will let you know who is boss in no uncertain terms. They may be small, but they have the courage of a much larger dog. Be prepared for a challenge when housetraining. With only a thin coat and not very much fat, Min Pins do not like the cold. These are small dogs, typically weighing in at just under 10 lbs. Miniature Pinschers are tiny but with a powerful appearance. Colors are red, dark red, black and tan or liver and tan. Chocolate is possible, but uncommon.
