Rat Terrier

A truly American breed, this mix of Terrier, sighthound (Italian Greyhound or Whippet) and Beagle was bred to hunt vermin on Southern farms. They get along with other dogs, cats, and people, but don't even think of getting one if you have hamsters of gerbils. On the other hand. if you are tired of squirrels rading your bird feeder, a Rat would be a good choice. Feists are sensitive doggies who are anxious to please their masters. They can be territorial when strangers come to visit, but overly friendly to dogs whose acquaintaince they make away from home. Feists are small dogs, weighing in at less than 25 lbs. They are athletic dogs who do well at agility. Feist ears can be erect or button, the tail curved or bob. Their short coat is white, or white with patches or markings. There are two types: type A is "leggier", like Cracker and Rover, and type B has shorter legs, like Buster.
