Siberian Husky

Their striking contrasts in their coats and (sometimes) blue eyes make Huskies one of the more beautiful breeds. They have double coats and fluffy tails that are made for cold winters. Huskies are born to run, but unlike Greyhounds or Whippets, they are out for distance rather than speed. They are notorious for running off and need to be chained or fenced if left alone. They make fantastic jogging partners, better yet, get on your bike and let the dog run alongside you. The possible colors can be baffling; the pattern is often that seen in Nika and Dakota, but pure white, almost completely black, and spotted are possible. Husky eyes are not necessarily blue, but can be brown, one of each, or blue/brown spots in each eye. Find out more here.

If a puppy is a purebred Husky, it is not hard to tell. The erect ears and markings (if present) make it easy. Again, don't rely on the blue eyes, as several other dog breeds can be blue-eyed.
